Chinese Medicine for Mamas-to-Be and Beyond
If you're seeking Chinese medical care, you might be envisioning a natural and holistic pregnancy and birth experience. Perhaps you’d like to approach it all “unmedicated” or you might be open to interventions. Either way, you want to give your baby the best, starting in the womb, and we applaud and support your impulse to do so.
Pregnancy and the entry into parenthood is an intense, miraculous, and truly transitional moment in your life. No matter where you are at in your journey, Chinese medicine offers gentle, effective solutions to ease you through this time.
Modalities used include:
Acupuncture, acupressure magnets, massage, dietary recommendations, and herbal medicine when applicable and advised.
When should I begin treatment if I'm pregnant?
You're welcome to begin treatment at any point in your pregnancy since Chinese medicine can ease symptoms and support health in all 3 trimesters and beyond.
It's ideal to commit to a course of multiple sessions during pregnancy. Acupuncture is a cumulative medicine, meaning that each successive treatment allows for a deeper and “stickier” shift for the better in the body. This is especially true when pursuing treatment for labor preparation.
It's strongly recommended to begin labor preparation sessions at or around 36 weeks of pregnancy. This allows the body to have sufficient time to incorporate the positive effects of acupuncture, including softening of the cervix, preparation of the uterine ligaments, as well as a timely, efficient labor with less interventions.
